Undercover Work and Memory Lane

“I think we can go out there now, Jethro.” Jenny said as she fixed her hair.
Kate was with us just outside of Jenny and Jethro’s room. Abby had joined us once Tony had let Kate in.
“Gibbs in there with the mystery redhead?” Kate asked.
None of us said anything.
“He isn’t with the mystery redhead; he’s with me, Agent Todd.” Jenny said.
“Kate, this is Director Jenny Shepard.” Tony said introducing Kate to Jenny.
“I’m sorry; Director, I didn’t know.”
“You’re supposed to be dead.” I said.
“Well I’m not, Agent?”
“Shepard, I’m Jaylyn Shepard.”
“Okay; so I guess that makes you and the Director, sisters.” Kate said as she looked over to Ziva.
“Yeah, we’re sisters.”
Surprisingly enough Jethro had been quiet the entire time.
“He’s our functional mute.” I thought
Kate walked over to Ziva and extended her hand.
“You must be Ziva David, I’m Kate.” Kate said as she mispronounced Ziva’s last name.
“It's pronounced Da-veed. And it’s nice to meet you too.” Ziva said.
Everyone could sense the tension between Kate and Ziva.
“Why are you here, Kate?” Jethro asked.
“I’m coming back to the agency and to the team.” Kate answered.
“McGee create a cover for Kate, DiNozzo brief Kate.” Jethro instructed.
“Yes boss.” Tony and McGee said.
“Welcome back, Kate.” Abby said as she hugged Kate.
“Kate; you’ll be bunking with Abby, Ziva and Jaylyn.” Jethro said.
Ziva still had a look of being guarded about everything and everyone, especially guarded of Tony.
“It will be okay. Tony won’t betray you. He’s not the same the person he was back then.” I said.
“I know.”
Abby helped Kate bring her stuff into our bedroom. Once Abby came out into the kitchen to grab a Caf-Pow, Ziva had gone into the bedroom. As for me I had gone to Jenny and Jethro’s room. This time their bedroom door was opened.
“Can I come in?” I asked.
“Sure; come in, Jay.” Jenny answered.
“What do you need?” Jethro asked.
“Just wanted to make sure you were both okay with Kate being back and to make sure that I still have a job.”
“Why wouldn’t you?”
“Jen, you know perfectly well why. Jethro only has four agents apart of his team. With Kate around we are one over, which means either I am out or she is out. We all know Jethro won’t get rid of Kate since she is like a daughter to him. I’m just the Director’s sister; I have no other place then that.”
“You aren’t leaving the team.” Jethro said.
“So you’re letting both of us stay?”
“Yes.”
“One last question, did you guys know that Kate was still alive?”
“Of course we did. We found out a few weeks ago.”
“Okay.”
A few hours later it was lights out. McGee and Tony had gone to their room after kissing their respective girlfriends goodnight. Kate was kind of surprised when she saw Tony kiss Ziva. Abby, Ziva, Kate and I then turned in for the night. Abby took a part of the floor. Ziva took one bed as Kate took the other bed.
I found a space on the floor like Abby. The following morning Kate, Ziva, Abby and I were the last one up. The four of us had decided to join the others in the kitchen for breakfast. Gibbs was at the small dining table drinking coffee and reading the paper. Jenny was on her phone with her coffee in her hands.
“It’s my childhood all over again.”
As we got breakfast Tony looked up to us.
“You guys look like hell.” Tony said before he took a bite of his cereal.
Kate, Ziva and I went over to Tony and head-slapped him as Abby punched him in the arm.
“Apparently you haven’t learned.” Kate said.
Jenny then got off her cell and nudged Jethro.
“What?” Jethro asked.
“We have to tell them.” Jenny answered.
“DiNozzo, David, McGee, Shepard, Abby.”
“Yes boss.” the five of us said as we joined my sister and Jethro at the table.
Kate took Tony’s seat on the couch.
“Agent Todd didn’t die five years ago like you think.” Jenny said.
“Okay, so the bastard didn’t kill her.”
“Tony.” Ziva said.
“Sorry, hun.”
“Kate has been in witness protection until recently.”
“But we were there when Ari shot her, Gibbs. I had her blood on me.”
“The bullet didn’t do that much damage. Ducky was able to fix her up.”
“Okay; so we are one big happy family again, all seven of us.” I said.
